George Bullard, author of the recently published book Every Church Needs a Little Conflict believes every church can benefit from some conflict. Why? Because congregations without conflict are dead or dying. Conflict is a common part of everyday life. A byproduct of conflict is energy and passion. A conflict forces decisions and action and creates opportunities to glorify God, serve others and grow in Christlikeness. Congregations must develop capacity to handle the inevitable conflicts that come along. Bullard believes that if congregations will develop this capacity during times of healthy conflict, they will be equipped to handle occasional unhealthy conflict situations.
How can you determine the level of intensity of congregational conflict? The level of intensity will determine whether the conflict is God-empowered or Satan-controlled, and whether it is at a healthy stage or transitioning to an unhealthy stage.
