Thomas Blackwell is an African-American church starting strategist for California Southern Baptist Convention, where he works primarily with the LAX Urban Center and in the Long Beach and Los Angeles areas.

He became a radio announcer in San Diego in 1978 and is licensed by the FCC in telecommunication. He produced a ministry for both radio and television for 24 years for Pastor Luther Keith of Central Baptist Church in Inglewood. He was minister of missions for three years prior to joining CSBC in 2002.

A graduate of the Engineering and Broadcast Institute in San Diego, Blackwell also has a diploma in theology from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.

He currently is starting a worship and training center in Los Angeles to incubate new church planters and train them in Basic Training and other leadership courses to prepare them for the ministry.
