Andrew Chan is a language church planting catalyst consultant for the California Southern Baptist Convention Church Starting Group. His primary responsibility is helping start Chinese churches and missions; he also helps with their ministries when asked.
He served as pastor of Chinese Grace Baptist Church, Los Angeles, as editor of Chinese Baptist Fellowship of the United States of America and Canada, chief editor of California Vista, and the Voices of California Chinese Southern Baptist Churches; he also wrote mission stories and Bible studies for Woman’s Missionary Union. He was chosen as one of eight missionaries to be featured for a California Mission Offering emphasis and one of the eight pair of missionaries nationwide for a North American Mission Board missions emphasis.
He has a master’s degree from Azusa Pacific University, a master’s from the Biola University School of Intercultural Studies, a master’s from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, KS, and a master of theology degree from Bethel Baptist Theological Seminary in St Paul, MN.
Andrew was born in Hong Kong and grew up in a family that participated in ancestor worship. He became a Christian after arriving in Los Angeles.
He and his wife, Edith Jean Wong, have enjoyed serving the Lord together for 28 years.
