Daniel Cookson serves as a church starting strategist in San Diego and Orange Counties for the California Southern Baptist Convention New Church Starting Group. His responsibilities are to develop and implement church planting strategy through securing of resources and enlisting of sponsors for church starting.

He is a graduate of Southwest Baptist University, receiving a bachelor of arts in religion  and sociology. He earned master of divinity, master of religious education and doctor of ministry degrees from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.

He has served in various capacities in California, Iowa and Colorado including minister of music and youth, minister of ethnic outreach, church planting team member, director of church and community ministries and adjunct professor for a leadership in ministry practicum. He also served with the Foreign (now International) Mission Board in Okinawa as an assistant pastor.

Daniel is married to Tammy and they have three children: Danielle, Karl, and Kyle.
