Tahoe missionary spearheads effort to purchase new ministry van

TAHOE - California Southern Baptists' resort missionary to Tahoe, Debbie Wohler, has done it again.

This time she led in a project to recycle cell phones and ink jet and laser cartridges in order to buy a new van for the A+ after-school ministry and other efforts of First Baptist Church in Tahoe City.

Wohler took delivery of the new van Jan. 28, with more than $7,000 still in the bank account. "As you can see, we're well on our way toward the next van!" Wohler wrote in a news release.

She led an effort some years ago to collect labels from Campbell's products, with which she was able to purchase three vans for various children's ministries sponsored by the church.

"The van is beautiful inside and out," Wohler declared. "When I got in it, I turned on the radio and it was preprogrammed to the Christian radio station in our area. This is another 'spiritual marker' for me," she said, referring to a phrase used by author Henry Blackaby. "Spiritual markers are those moments when you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was God at work."
