Typhoon Haiyan Disaster Relief

In the aftermath of Super Typhoon Haiyan’s destruction to the Philippine Islands, California Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Ministries deployed a construction crew to Gibitngil, Medellin, Philippines from January 1-14.

Baptist Global Response (BGR) has scheduled additional  recovery projects for Southern Baptist Disaster Relief teams in various areas of the nation.

California was asked to provide more recovery teams to Ormoc City, Leyte from February through July.

Don Hargis, CSBC Disaster Relief coordinator, returned from the Philippines to map out the strategy for CSBDR volunteers, and a CSBC team is now serving in Ormoc City.

On April 28 Hargis reported, "When we leave (in July), we will have sent six on-site coordinators, approximately 84 volunteers, and repaired 10 elementary schools. One of our on-site coordinators was asked to help with the baptism of more than 50 new believers at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Ormoc. Lives are being changed because of the volunteers who place their lives in the hands of the Father."

Please pray for CSBC as we continue to minister. Disaster Relief gifts are needed to help with ongoing ministry. Please give to Disaster Relief efforts in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan.

Don  Hargis, CSBC Disaster Relief coordinator, encourages churches and individuals to give to Disaster Relief online or by sending checks, marked for Disaster Relief, to CSBC, 678 E. Shaw Ave., Fresno, CA 93710.
