Ministry to kids is a significant and rewarding opportunity for the church. The challenge of providing a vibrant childhood ministry is filled with high-expectation parents and children. Building on a good foundation is always important. Below in the Articles and Resources section you will find Providing a Vibrant Childhood Ministry that overviews the challenge churches and church leaders face.
The childhood years, birth through 6th grade, are about building a good spiritual foundation. This early foundation includes learning about God, Jesus, creation, the Bible, family, self, the church, the community and world, the Holy Spirit and Salvation. A large percentage of children eight and older will make salvation decisions when given a good foundation. Every church has an opportunity to shape their future during the childhood years.
Leadership is the other important ingredient in a successful ministry to kids. In the Articles and Resources section there are links to several resources to equip childhood ministry leaders and to keep them connected to ongoing resources. Each year LifeWay produces leader training resources focused on Sunday School and small groups that are FREE from LifeWay Christian Resources. The websites include a downloadable copy of the book and teaching plans and presentations for each age-group. In some cases there are audio books, video training or online courses (some of these items are for purchase). Links to these resources are also included in the Articles and Resource section.
California Southern Baptist Convention is committed to being a resource for training, consulting, and networking church leaders to meet this great opportunity. CSBC stands ready to assist with curriculum interpretation, leadership development, evangelism strategies, training, ministry development and enriching childhood experiences. Many of the ways we can assist churches with training, consultations, materials, and experiences can be tapped through the resources or specialists listed on this page.
