George Barna, a leading church growth expert, has said the need to develop leaders is an ongoing challenge for churches. Effective leaders have three things in common: a sense of call from God for their task, an exhibition of Christian character in their lifestyle and a demonstration of competence in their ability to lead and do their ministry. Henry Blackaby says “Spiritual leadership is moving people onto God’s agenda.”
