The California Southern Baptist Convention Church Starting Group is passionate about starting new congregations to reach California’s diverse population, 33 million of whom are unchurched.  Research shows that new churches are very effective in reaching people for Jesus.

The Church Starting Group is here to help with training church starters or sponsoring churches or mentors.  Do you know where churches are needed or where there are people groups not being reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ? The Church Starting Group can assist churches and associations with all aspects of starting new congregations.

CSBC has strategists throughout California available to assist associations or churches begin a new congregation. The CSBC Church Starting Group offers programs in finding where to best start a church, training the pastor of that church, offering limited financial assistance, finding a sponsor for the new work and providing mentoring and supervision for the new pastor.
