The Cutting Edge:
Poverty Simulation (2008)

This may be a simulation, but poverty is real.  At the heart of every person is the desire to thrive.  This event will open your mind and heart to truly understand the dynamics of working with those experiencing poverty.  How can we engage our churches in ministry to serve those in need and be the hands and feet of Jesus according to Matthew 25:34-45?

What kind of impact does the poverty simulation have on participants?  Past participants say it's a real eye opener to participate in a simulation.  Quotes from participants include:

  • For me it was a wonderful eye-opener. A part of life.
  • For me to go through this, it really made me aware. I just can’t imagine getting up in the morning, getting out of bed and going through that struggle again.
  • It helped increase my awareness to the emotional toll that it takes…many, many people who seek out these services are embarrassed, frustrated.
