Disaster Relief Chainsaw Training
Those interested in working in a disaster area through Southern Baptist Disaster Relief must complete an orientation training course along with at least one of the focused training classes.Volunteers meeting these requirements and completing a background check will receive a California Southern Baptist Disaster Relief identification badge, a gold DR hat and t-shirt which is recognized as the Southern Baptist uniform only to be worn when deployed with a team working under Blue and White Hat leaders.
This training event is for new volunteers, for those who desire to be recertified or for those who are currently certified and wish to take additional training.
Certification Class: Chainsaw
This two-day training will provide instruction on safety procedures, maintenance of the saw, brush/limb pulling and cutting techniques, as well as a full day of “hands-on” experience for beginners. The class includes the required New Volunteer Orientation and Operational Stress First Aid (OSFA).
Monday & Tuesday, April 20-21, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. (2 days)
Please arrive by 4 p.m. Sunday, April 19. All meals and lodging are included (DR style – bring air mattress or cot and sleeping bag/pillow and stay in a room – one for men, one for women). Showers are available. Registration/check-in (ID badge photo) begins at 7:30 a.m.
Participants should be in good physical shape and bring their own personal safety gear, dressed with boots, long sleeve shirts and gloves.
There is a chainsaw deployment opportunity to stay 1-10 days after training. If able to deploy in Paradise any days April 22-May 1 please email DeployDR@csbc.com with:
