Disaster Relief Training - Newhall

Those interested in working in a disaster area through Southern Baptist Disaster Relief must complete an orientation course along with at least one of the focused training classes. Volunteers meeting these requirements and completing a background check will receive a California Southern Baptist Disaster Relief identification badge, a gold DR hat and t-shirt, which is recognized as the Southern Baptist "uniform" only to be worn when deployed with a team working under Blue and White Hat leaders.

This training is for new volunteers, those who desire to be recertified or those who are currently certified and wish to take additional training.

DR Orientation

Southern Baptist Disaster Relief is Christian love in action as DR team members meet the urgent needs of hurting humanity in crisis. This mandatory class gives an overview of the ministry of California Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, teaches the phases of a disaster, covers the types of disaster services and equipment offered, and explains the expectations and details of volunteer engagement as team members.


Lunch (provided)




This class prepares participants to safely and effectively assist property owners with cleanup and recovery following a disaster. It covers personal safety, procedures for debris removal, tools and equipment, and the recovery of personal property.


This basic feeding class equips participants to serve effectively in a feeding kitchen. It covers food safety, personal responsibility, sanitation and managing inventory.
