Operational Stress First Aid (OSFA)

Operational Stress First Aid (OSFA) Course

OSFA is a flexible, multi-step process for the timely assessment and preclinical care of psychological stress injuries in individuals or teams, with goals of preserving life, preventing further harm and promoting recovery. Consistent with the principles of Psychological First Aid, the larger goal of OSFA is to restore health and readiness after a stress injury.

This OSFA course is open to all. If you do not have an OSFA pocket guide, you may purchase one during the registration process for $10. You will receive the guide in class. California Southern Baptist DR volunteers should bring their OSFA pocket guides with them (you may have received one during orientation or the DR Chaplain class).

After you have completed the registration process, you will be sent a link to download all the presentation slides, a complete OSFA manual and instructions on downloading a free phone app for OSFA. The electronic documents are free.

This course meets the basic training requirements for California Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Chaplains who are seeking NAMB endorsement as DR Chaplains. This is a more advanced OSFA class than is taught in the DR Chaplain course. If you have not taken the DR Chaplain course, you may complete this class first - no specific order is required. All DR volunteers are encouraged to complete this course.
